Recorded over 125 CDs to date including 6 with Max Roach, 6 with Odean Pope, 5 with Grover Washington, Jr. (2 of which reached Gold Status: "Live At The Bijou" and "Reed Seed"), 4 with Pat Martino, 3 with Bobby Zankel, 2 with Rachelle Ferrell and 1 each with Cecil Bridgewater and Dave Burrell.

Received Certificate in Orchestration and Modern Harmony from the Berklee School Of Music, Boston, Massachusetts. Studied Bass with Principal Bassist of the Philadelphia Orchestra Michael Shahan, and with John Ellis. Received Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts for the production of a video performance of original compositions 1983. Received Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council On The Arts for Artistic Excellence in Jazz Composition 2001. Received "Best Acoustic Bass" honors in the Jazz Philadelphia Magazine Readers Choice Poll 1993 and 1994.

Conducted Master Classes in Barcelona, Spain and Jerusalem, Israel. Also conducted Improvisation Symposiums at Brigham Young University, Illinois State University, and Temple University.

Performed Solo Bass Concert at the 25th Anniversary of the Moers Germany Jazz Festival with five thousand people in attendance May 25, 1996. Guest Artist with the Philadelphia Orchestra January 18, 1999...performed "Suite For The Three Black Kings" by Duke and Mercer Ellington, under the Direction of Andre' Raphel Smith.

Collaborations with dancer / choreographer Germaine Ingram on various music and dance projects since 2002; performed 6 grant-sponsored concerts to date.


Formerly with Pat Martino, Rachelle Ferrell, Grover Washington, Jr., Lou Rawls, Max Roach, Odean Pope and Billy Paul. Also performed with Freddie Hubbard, Phil Woods, Mulgrew Miller, Clark Terry, Johnny Hartman, Sonny Fortune, Etta Jones, Benny Golson, Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Marcus, Kenny Barron, J.J.Johnson, Dave Burrell, Donald Byrd, Nat Adderly, Cecil Bridgewater, Sam Rivers, Stanley Turrentine, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Sir Roland Hanna, David Murray, Richie Cole, Jackie King, Jack Wilkins, and many other mainstream artists, as well as with poet Sonia Sanchez and the Robinson/Ingrim Dance Team.

Also touring and recording with the Tyrone Brown String Sextet (featuring John Blake) and have recorded 2 CD's to date: Song Of The Sun on the Naxos Label (released January 2000) and "Emerald Valley" on the Moers Label (released May 2005).
Received a Fellowship in Composition from PEW fellowships in the Arts - 2003
Received Fellowship in Composition from the Independence Foundation to compose and record a CD for string sextet and percussion - 2005
Received a commission from the University of Rochester to compose and record a CD of a Suite in honor of author John A. Williams - 2005
