What the critics say:

"As haunted and rambling as the Northwest Philadelphia creek that inspired its name, Wissahickon showcases the inspired arrangements and play of guitarist Richard Drueding and drummer Stephe Ferraro. The duo's earthy work evokes very specific, often touching moods and places...Unique approaches are the norm in Drueding's world...multiple textures in churning, purposeful motion...These complex, colorful instrumental compositions clearly have stories to tell." - JazzTimes

RICHARD DRUEDING: "Insomniac's Lullaby" (EAR-1020)

CD cover art
A blend of acoustic folk/jazz/blues guitar for Richard Drueding, whose first recording on Encounter, "The Last Wound-Up," won a Philadelphia Music Award in 1989.
For his second release, Richard Drueding eschewed the usual accompaniment to acoustic guitar for a more raw and dynamic texture. On this entirely instrumental CD, he has combined with drummer Stephe Ferraro to produce a distinctly original sound for acoustic guitar recordings.

Inspired by "Open Letter," the '92 Ralph Towner recording with Peter Erskine, Drueding decided that drums and guitar alone would work and began recording with Ferraro.
In addition to six originals, the CD features an eclectic set of five covers, from Los Lobos and Dave Brubeck to Tom Rush and the Beatles.
Drueding's influences include a cross-section of guitarists - John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Larry Coryell and Bola Sete.
